I don't like to copy. I mean, sure - birds on branches isn't exactly a super original motif, but I know I was inspired by someone, somewhere - I just don't know who they were or where I saw it. I can cop to loving this:
It's from PB Kids. I'm not that talented, though. And I definitely love this:
...which was made by my fabulous friend Lesley and featured all over the Interwebs last week.
And then there was this:

This may have been the original inspiration. I truly, honestly don't remember.
SO. Are you wondering about my foray into birdie art? I sincerely hope you're sitting down, so you don't get knocked over by the Awesome:
There are my little mod birds, just hanging out on their branches. I had a really hard time photographing these, but here they are again:
These were made using this AC Patterned Paper, and all the usual suspects: acrylic paint, Mod Podge, and my Silhouette. I really, really love these, and I think I would like to redo them in a slightly softer and girlier fashion for my daughter's room. The whole deal took about an hour and a half, including drying time.
Easy? Yes. Cheerful? For sure. And definitely do-able without a Silhouette, if you like cutting out circles. It just goes to show: If you want something to be awesome, there's only one thing to do: put a bird on it.
**Update!**
I just can't quit birds.
You can find birdie wall art 2.0 and a giveaway to make your own here.

Ummm, I totally love that. So much that I'm tempted to drive my happy ass down to FL just to steal your Silhouette so I can make one for myself. Well, technically it'd go in the girls bathroom, which has a bird theme and absolutely nothing on the walls but some vinyl decals.
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you should make a giveaway in which you give away said... oh, certain bird shapes and circles cut out by your Silhouette in the winner's choice of color/paper, I'd totally enter. I'm just saying.
ReplyDeleteShut up! I freaking love it! I am loving your color choices!
ReplyDeleteAlli just looked at this and said, " No way! That's amazing! She is so crafty, right mommy? Like, super crafty. "
